Reading Notes B - week 11

The Course of the Sun
Sia (New Mexico)
This story tells of how the sun began to rise from the east and west.

The mother spider told the sun to go from north to east, but the sun didn't like that path.

The mother spider then told the sun to go from east to west, and the sun was much contended.

From then on, the sun started in the east, and traveled to the west, stopping three times a day for breakfast, dinner, and supper.

Myths and Legends of California and the Old Southwest by Katharine Berry Judson (1912).
